First question I had was if it was square tube or a solid chunk.. it is definitely a solid chunk of steel. This thing has some heft to it, which is a good feeling. I have a 3/4 avalanche that’s heavy. I used this thing right away. First day I watched a heavy loaded military hummer go in the ditch and get stuck, and they let me pull them out. I was right there, so they hadn’t called it in yet.
Nice looking piece, what you would expect from a simple shackle hitch reciever. Shackle itself also a nice piece... down fall is the extremely loose fit in a 2" reciever. Planned on running this full time as a front recovery point in my Trail Gear tube bumper but it rattles and clanks around over any sort of bumps. Ended up purchasing a different shackle hitch reciever for less here on amazon that came with shackle, hitch pin, shackle, polyurethane shackle isolators and it fit nice and snug. If the fit was better I would have been happy with this purchase. Ended up needing to use it and scuffed the finish otherwise I would have returned it.

Most people who are looking for a hitch will typically get one of three different types of hitches: shackle hitches, ball mount hitches, or receiver mount hitches. People who simply want to have the highest weight capacity will normally purchase a shackle hitch since they have impressive towing weight capacities. However, if you would prefer the design of a ball mount hitch or receiver mount hitch, they are all viable options which are equally as easy to use once they are installed.


This hitch works by mounting it directly to the frame of the vehicle behind you, allowing the two vehicles to work almost as if they were one. However, keep in mind that you should not tow heavy-duty weights or vehicles with this vehicle. Since there is not a clear weight capacity with this hitch, it is best used for loads that are lighter than the vehicle you already use.
It simply becomes an attachment point for a strap. This is a 2 and a half inch by 2 and a half inch class 5 receiver mount with a 7/8th inch shackle. Then here at the shackle we're going to have the forged alloy steel shackle and that's going to have a zinc plating on it to resist rust and corrosion. Like many others on here I took a chance on a small company I had never heard of. I was expecting good quality but was actually amazed at the fit and finish on these shackles. I don’t need a set of shackles that can support the weight of a fully loaded semi, but I have them. I purchased these to attach their 20’ and 30’ straps together if I ever needed to. ( be prepared right? ) if it says Rhino on it you can believe it will be good quality. Every piece of recovery gear I carry from my shackle hitch to the shackles that may be wrapped around your axle or frame says rhino on it and if it’s you sitting in the ditch you will be glad it does.
