Once the products arrived, the quality spoke for itself. WOW! The tow strap is just plain sexy (if you can say that about a tow strap). It is very well made and is unlike any other tow strap I have seen. The shackles appear to be incredibly durable. I will update this review once I have spent more time putting these products to test on the trails. I also LOVE that they attach their logo and the American Flag to the tow strap.
There are plenty of great parts to choose from when you buy from 4wheelparts.com. You find recovery hitches from a wide range of brands, including Warn, Rugged Ridge and Factor 55. To get a sense of which hitches work best for your Jeep, you simply need to input the pertinent information into 4 Wheel Parts.com's search bar to automatically see the results.
How much weight your vehicle can handle while it is towing a car or trailer is perhaps the most important factor that people will look at when they are deciding what type of truck hitch to purchase. As briefly stated above, shackle hitches are the most affordable way to get a hitch that can handle weight over 10,000 pounds. Since this is more than the normal weight that people will drag around, many people with heavy-duty needs will get this design.
I recieved this a few days ago. It came in a nicely packed, sturdy box. After opening it up and seeing it for myself, I have to say the quality is awesome! Its a HEAVY shackle. The matte finish on the reciever end is superb (this piece must weigh about 7-10 lbs on its own). The shackle itself has a nice galvanized coating, and weighs about 6-7 lbs! Overall I think it is an awesome addition to any truck, looks great and has all the functionality that you'll probably need out of a shackle. 5/5 would reccomend! 457088
This shackle hitch can be easily installed and used on most trucks, SUVs and jeeps, and turning your vehicle into a towing machine. It comes equipped with a black powder coating which will keep it safe from the weather and corrosion, and a price which everybody can afford. If you are simply looking to get a great deal on a truck hitch and are on the lower end of the budget range, then this should be one of your top choices.
Considering a hitch pin is meant to be loaded in shear vs the bolt in tensile plus the larger minimum diameter of the pin...I'd go with the pin. The actual block depends on what brand you buy. I think my Smittybuilt is a solid chunk of (Chinese) steel that I really doubt is going to fail before something else. The shackle on the other hand, you'd be better off not getting the Smittybuilt Chinese version.
With that being said though, it all depends on how you plan to use your 4Runner off-road and the types of terrain you see. Because the ARB Off-Road Recovery Snatch Straps have the most stretch, doesn’t mean they are the “best” it just means that they are truly designed for off-road recovery in pulling someone out. Again, like we said above in the material section, there are different recovery straps that perform better in certain situations.
It seems that the negative reviews about size variations are from a few years ago, and based on the one I received, they seem to have the size right. The main block on mine (drawbar?) measures 1.90 inches wide and 1.97 inches tall. My 4Runner hitch measures 2.08 inches wide and tall, so there is about 1/8" of extra space between the receiver and the drawbar. Without a pin, there is quite a bit of play, but with the pin inserted, it's pretty snug.
This hitch from LIBERRWAY comes in a standard shackle design which allows it to carry extra heavy loads up to 11,000 pounds. This means that everything from a medium-large trailer to a full-size automobile will be pulled by your car without breaking a sweat. If you are handy and capable of doing basic car installations like this one, you can end up saving a lot of money by getting a design like this which comes at an affordable price.
This heavy-duty trailer hitch accessory features a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" shank, allowing it to fit hardworking class 5 trailer hitches, including any CURT Commercial Duty class 5 hitch. The entire unit is tested and rated for a straight-line pull of up to 13,000 lbs., making it a useful tool for vehicle recovery or tough jobs off-road and out in the field (weight ratings limited by lowest-rated towing component).
While it is good to have a D ring receive hitch in your Jeep just in case, it is always preferable to avoid a nasty situation in the first place. You should avoid driving in unknown areas or driving over something with an uncertain depth. You also need to drive slowly when possible. However, even the most careful drivers may end up stuck in the mud at one point or another. A D ring hitch is useful, but it is also good if you always carry a first aid kit, jack and shovel in your Jeep, too.
A shackle hitch receiver is the perfect tow hitch for the recreational off-roader or when you need to tow in a pinch. They fit in most 2” receivers to give you the pulling power you need to tow. The extensive selection at 4 Wheel Parts has everything you need to outfit a recovery kit for the hard-core enthusiast or simply have some better safety gear for your truck. Be prepared with heavy-duty receivers, straps and winches.
I too have their shackle hitch, tow strap and 2 d rings but still haven't needed to use them. Their quality appears to be good and supposedly made in USA. I liked their stuff enough to also purchase and just received today two of their tire pressure gauges since I broke the head off of an old pencil style one. Again quality seems to be pretty good.
