It is also popular on crossovers and mid-size trucks. That is because the Class 3-packs the punch of a heavyweight hitch while still staying light on its feet. CURT ...  More + Product Details Close
Nylon Recovery Straps are great for situations where you may need to get a running start and traction all around is not so great. If you are in a situation where both you and the stuck driver are in sand, mud, snow or ice, you will need a running start to gain momentum. Once you have enough momentum and that point hits where the nylon recovery strap stretches out, the momentum should be enough to pop another vehicle out, all without a big JOLT of pull on both vehicles. The downside of nylon recovery straps is if used incorrectly and the nylon snaps, that stretch has to go somewhere. If a nylon strap stretches to hard and too fast, it will backlash at a vehicle or even worse a person’s face. Just make sure to keep vehicles and people clear of the recovery area when pulling someone out.
Just got my shipment in the mail today. I got the Recovery Tow Strap, Shackle Hitch Receiver, Premiu...m Bungee Cord Set, and 2 D-Ring Shackles. Every piece of equipment feels super solid, and I can’t wait to put them to the test with my Z71 Silverado. As an added bonus, the shipment came incredibly fast, and the shipping was free! I highly recommend this company and their products.
Solid, heavy, very thick coating. Look like they will hold up as advertized although I haven't had a chance to use them yet. Fit and finish is at least as good as higher-priced shackles I've seen at my local S&M Bondage store and I think they'll go well with that early 20th century farmhouse basement steam radiator theme or in any safe house as well. Finding chain and manacles to match might be a chore, but look around.
Shackle hitches are used together with either a recovery strap, tow strap or snap strap or a winch cable. Its job is to provide a solid connection point so you can rescue a stuck vehicle. That could be one that's bogged down in mud, trapped in a ditch or perhaps stuck on a rock. With a winch and snatch block, (a type of pulley,) you can even do a self-recovery, pulling yourself free.
This truck hitch from Vault Cargo Management comes with a sturdy shackle hitch design that comes with an impressive towing weight capacity and a price that everybody who is looking for a truck hitch can afford. With 10,000 pounds of towing weight capacity, there are few things that cannot be pulled by this truck hitch. The true test, then, would be to see if your truck can handle towing your cargo.

It seems that the negative reviews about size variations are from a few years ago, and based on the one I received, they seem to have the size right. The main block on mine (drawbar?) measures 1.90 inches wide and 1.97 inches tall. My 4Runner hitch measures 2.08 inches wide and tall, so there is about 1/8" of extra space between the receiver and the drawbar. Without a pin, there is quite a bit of play, but with the pin inserted, it's pretty snug.
This means that you should be cautious before you whip out the money that is truly required for getting a truck hitch. If you find a high-quality hitch that is anywhere between $20-50 many people might think that they are of a lower quality than what a local retailer has. However, the reality is that many local retailers purchase products like these and then mark up the price to local customers. Just keep in mind that the market is always subject to change and the price can rapidly evolve out of this range.

If you want a shackle hitch that can pull impressive weight loads with ease, then this should be one of your top options. With an towing weight capacity of 4-3/4 tons, many people simply won’t even need to pull this much weight. However, being prepared for the worst is better than no preparation at all. This is one of the reasons why many people will get a top-quality truck hitch like this one which boasts a considerably high towing weight capacity.
With the Grip recovery strap mentioned above, it is a pretty stiff pull/ yank. With nylon, you are supposed to have a much softer yank. When you go from 0-20 and pull someone out, it tends to bounce everything around quite a bit. Then repeat this about 10 times in a day. Yeah, we have been there. The softer and easier you can get those pulls, the easier it is on everything, your back, your 4Runner, and the driver of the other truck.
Starting off this list is the Smittybilt tow hitch shackle for a 2 inch Receiver. This is a brand you can trust because they have been around since 1956. Building Jeep accessories for longer than most anyone else in the off road world. The Smittybilt Receiver Hitch D-Ring is a quick and solid recovery point. This thing will pop into any 2″ receiver. It has a 4.75 ton weight rating and comes in a durable black powder coat finish. Even though this is a few dollars higher in price opposed to the other black ones on the list, but I still put it at number one for the trusted brand name. Cant go wrong with a blacked out d ring hitch from Smittybilt!
While I just received this product and have not had the opportunity to use it, I know it will meet the needs of future towing tasks the next time I have to tow a truck or car. In the past I have had to attach a tow strap to my rear axle in order to tow someone, but now I have this attached to my truck, and towing will be so much easier. The unit is solid, not hollow, and it is very strong. The customer service at etrailer was very good as well. 330587
This hitch also comes with a hitch pin, shackle, and shackle cover, meaning that you will have everything necessary to break out your tools and install the hitch yourself. Additionally, you can take this part to any mechanic and they will easily be able to install it for you. Although a hitch like this is great since it allows you to shackle either horizontally or vertically at a considerably high towing weight capacity, it is also a tad noisier than ball mount hitches.

Once the products arrived, the quality spoke for itself. WOW! The tow strap is just plain sexy (if you can say that about a tow strap). It is very well made and is unlike any other tow strap I have seen. The shackles appear to be incredibly durable. I will update this review once I have spent more time putting these products to test on the trails. I also LOVE that they attach their logo and the American Flag to the tow strap.
