Searching for the best truck hitches for towing requires that you carefully consider the price of the model, the towing weight capacity, the type of hitch, and the durability of the materials used in the hitch. If all of these things blend together in a fashion which results in the best possible towing hitch for your personal needs, there is no reason you should hold back on your decision. However, always be sure to purchase something only if you can afford it.

These might be the best off-road recovery straps you can buy. ARB makes some of the best products on the 4×4 market, including the well-known ARB Deflator and Inflator along with a handful of other products.  If you are looking for the best product out there, hands down this is going to be your best option. Because the ARB is made of 100% nylon means it has the most elasticity of these other brands.
It's made from a solid steel construction. It's going to offer three pinhole locations, so you have one right here and then two on this side. That's going to allow the shackle to be used horizontally or vertically, and it's got the short mounting shank. That's going to enable the shackle to sit pretty close to the receiver that's mounted onto the vehicle. We have a screw pin design.

With that being said though, it all depends on how you plan to use your 4Runner off-road and the types of terrain you see. Because the ARB Off-Road Recovery Snatch Straps have the most stretch, doesn’t mean they are the “best” it just means that they are truly designed for off-road recovery in pulling someone out. Again, like we said above in the material section, there are different recovery straps that perform better in certain situations.
Finding that many off-road accessories didn't perform as advertised, they decided they could do better, and so in 2015 they started Rhino USA. Today, the company they founded offers a range of high quality accessories for those serious about enjoying the great outdoors. I think it would be fine for a lite recovery, I've had to use that method winching a guy out of a snow bank(he had no recovery points). I don't see how much more different it is than using a receiver slug set up with a shackle. But I guess it depends on the quality of the pin. I too have seen it demonstrated as what to do instead of using the ball.
He's talking about the towing rating of the truck. The hitch is what it is. If you have the Toyota tow package (at least on my 2008) you got a class IV hitch, which is rated to 10,000 lbs towing, 1,000 tongue weight. That's because the truck is rated to tow 6,500 lbs. So they couldn't use a class III hitch, which is rated to 6,000 lbs, 600 tongue weight.
By making this shackle hitch receiver out of drop forged steel, we’re able to get the most out of the mechanical properties of the steel. This is done by not compromising the grain direction of the steel, resulting in one of the strongest, most reliable products you’ll find on the market. While other brands are forging or machining their D-ring hitch for you, we’re relying on the time-tested drop-forging method. Not only is it the best method for making a shackle hitch receiver, but it sounds pretty rugged too.

A shackle hitch receiver is the perfect tow hitch for the recreational off-roader or when you need to tow in a pinch. They fit in most 2” receivers to give you the pulling power you need to tow. If you already have a rear hitch receiver installed on your vehicle and simply want the most affordable means possible of installing a hitch onto your truck, this might be the option you are looking for. What is great about this truck hitch is that it can easily install on a hitch receiver and be ready to be used by your vehicle within an hour or so. Since its installation only requires the use of everyday hand tools, you won’t need to grab a power drill or anything which requires significant levels of effort.
I recieved this a few days ago. It came in a nicely packed, sturdy box. After opening it up and seeing it for myself, I have to say the quality is awesome! Its a HEAVY shackle. The matte finish on the reciever end is superb (this piece must weigh about 7-10 lbs on its own). The shackle itself has a nice galvanized coating, and weighs about 6-7 lbs! Overall I think it is an awesome addition to any truck, looks great and has all the functionality that you'll probably need out of a shackle. 5/5 would reccomend! 457088

With the Grip recovery strap mentioned above, it is a pretty stiff pull/ yank. With nylon, you are supposed to have a much softer yank. When you go from 0-20 and pull someone out, it tends to bounce everything around quite a bit. Then repeat this about 10 times in a day. Yeah, we have been there. The softer and easier you can get those pulls, the easier it is on everything, your back, your 4Runner, and the driver of the other truck.

A Class 1 or Class 2 receiver has a 1-1/4” opening and is typically only used on cars for towing small trailers or supporting a bike rack. Class 3 and Class 4 receivers have a 2” opening. You'll find these on larger SUV's (the body-on-frame type, not crossovers,) and pickup trucks. A Class 3 receiver can handle up to 6,000 lbs (depending on design,) while a Class 4 can go up to 10,000 lbs. (Again, that's design-dependent.)
