I would spend a little (ok a lot) extra for the Factor55 bling Hitchlink merely for its weight difference from something like the Warn. Southeast Overland in Seneca has both tow and snatch straps. That's going to allow for easy and quick connect and disconnect of the recovery strap . Now, this is going to be great for ATVs and UTVs that have an 1-1/4" hitch on it. This hitch works by mounting it directly to the frame of the vehicle behind you, allowing the two vehicles to work almost as if they were one. However, keep in mind that you should not tow heavy-duty weights or vehicles with this vehicle. Since there is not a clear weight capacity with this hitch, it is best used for loads that are lighter than the vehicle you already use.
Those pins are debatably fine for towing, if they are the right strength. Grades of bolts basically indicate their hardness and therefore tensile strength. Grade 2 (normal cheap stuff) you can bend a few times and still have a viable bolt for holding a picture on your wall. They're pretty soft. The one thing they don't do well is high tensile forces. The soft steel will either strip the threads or literally pull the fastener apart. Grade 5 bolts add a significant amount of tensile strength but can still take side loads with composure. They will bend a decent amount before breaking. Grade 8 bolts are very high tensile strength. They are best used in applications where their entire load is tension. They don't like to bend. I used to use grade 8 bolts through a chain link to hoist engines until I lost one. I had a grade 8 bolt threaded in the whole way into a head. It didn't bend a bit before shearing off flush with the head. I won't talk about the brand new polished aluminum oil pan or $400 radiator that bit the dust in the process.
A fastener is a fastener, they don't have a preference for shear or tension. A grade 5 hitch pin is the same as a grade 5 bolt of the same diameter along the unthreaded length. What you have to watch using a bolt is that you either get it long enough that only the unthreaded part of the bolt is in shear or you adjust the bolt's rating down to the minor diameter compensate. For a 5/8-18 UNF the minor diameter is 0.556".

I had a bunch of nasty thorny bushes that I could not even get close to that I lassoed with a slip not then yanked the crap out of them with the Smittybilt 29312b attached to my Toyota FJ. I then pulled out some old stumps and some huge fence and fence posts on the side of a hill that were buried in concrete by some crazy person who had the property before me. No other method I could think of would have the possibility of working and the pro guys with bobcats estimate was over a thousand dollars. I even had all four wheels of the FJ spinning on a concrete drive yanking and that is some kind of force.
I looked at several similar items before purchasing this one. Where the d-ring bolt goes thru, a couple of other brands had thin "ears" welded to the end of the mount. Not being a believer in factory claims of tow ratings, these didn't have the look of strength they claimed. This hitch appears to be milled from a solid piece of steel. If it indeed is 2 pieces welded together, they did an outstanding job in doing so. Unless I need to use a ball-mount hitch, I plan to leave this mounted in the receiver. To that end, I put some Loctite on the bolt before screwing it into the shackle, and then added a small cable tie from the bolt eye to the shackle. Barring a determined shackle thief, it should always be there if I need it. I can't imagine backing into something that would harm this hitch. The only complaint I have is how loose the mount is in the receiver. Several wrappings of duct tape just in front of the hitch pin hole quieted the rattle. A more snug fit would have earned 5 stars.

With that being said though, it all depends on how you plan to use your 4Runner off-road and the types of terrain you see. Because the ARB Off-Road Recovery Snatch Straps have the most stretch, doesn’t mean they are the “best” it just means that they are truly designed for off-road recovery in pulling someone out. Again, like we said above in the material section, there are different recovery straps that perform better in certain situations.
